Surrey, BC – The west Newton community celebrated the official opening of its newly expanded and redeveloped Panorama Park today. The park is 3.5 acres and features a neighbourhood dog off-leash area, a tot playground, a bike track, and an open grass area, which can be used for picnicking during the summer and also provide an option for the school to run activities with children in a natural environment.

“Investing in parks to ensure that they are safe, accessible and enjoyable for use by all residents, is a key component to building healthy communities,” said City of Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts. “Panorama Park will be a wonderful meeting place for active play and socializing for the west Newton community.”

“The redevelopment of Panorama Park was carefully planned with the help of community input,” said Councillor Linda Hepner, Chair of the Parks, Recreation & Sport Tourism Committee. “Care was taken to preserve numerous significant trees; as well as many additional trees have been planted. It’s a beautifully revitalized park space for residents to enjoy.”

The opening celebration included remarks by Councillor Mary Martin, cake cutting, face painting, community displays and activities. For more information about Panorama Park, visit
