Surrey, BC – Water Polo Canada has announced Surrey as the host city for three 2016 National Championship events.

“Together with our partner Sport Surrey, we are very pleased to have been selected to host several Water Polo Canada national events in 2016,” says City of Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts. “Sport tourism has significant economic and social benefits and that is why we have been making ongoing infrastructure investments into athletic facilities since implementing our Sport Tourism Strategy in 2009.”

Surrey’s 2016 Water Polo National Championships events are:

- 19 and under East/West Crossover, April 21-24, 2016
- 14 and under Western National Championship, April 29-May 1, 2016
- 16 and under Western Conference Championship, May 6-8, 2016

“Hosting prestigious sporting events such as these advances Surrey’s sport tourism reputation,” says Councillor Linda Hepner, Chair of the Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism Committee. “These events will be held at three Surrey aquatic facilities, including two which will be newly opened in Guildford and Grandview Heights. This is a great opportunity to showcase Surrey’s world-class aquatic facilities to athletes from across the country."
