36 Cultures Celebrate at Surrey's 6th Annual Fusion Festival

Surrey, BC – Over 100,000 residents and visitors enjoyed BC’s largest multicultural event at Surrey’s Fusion Festival in Holland Park over the weekend. The free two-day family event presented by Coast Capital Savings included 36 cultural pavilions and over 70 performances on four stages.
“Fusion Festival is a wonderful illustration of Surrey’s rich and significant cultural diversity, “says City of Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts. “Many thanks to Coast Capital Savings and all the sponsors for helping us put on another great event in Surrey.”
Free concerts by world-class entertainers included names like K-OS, the Shiamak’s TOIFA Bollywood Remix, The Zolas, Shweta Subram, Zerbin, Jordan Klassen, Kyprios, Stephen Fearing & Jim Byrnes. The best-dressed cultural pavilions were awarded prizes. Winners included: 1st Place –India, 2nd Place – Jamaica, and 3rd Place – El Salvador.
“Fusion Festival delivers a phenomenal mix of music, food and culture and it was great to see the community come together and celebrate, “ says Mary Martin, Chair of the Diversity and Inclusivity Committee. “Festival goers were welcomed by 36 distinct cultural groups who did an outstanding job of delivering on our theme this year: ‘Welcome’.”
