Tamanawis Park Field house funding announcement

Surrey, BC- The construction of the new Field house at Tamanawis Park got a $150,000 boost from a provincial government announcement today.
The total budget for the field house project is $1.1 million which also includes a $71,000 contribution came from local field hockey clubs.
“The City of Surrey is committed to engaging our children and youth by ensuring there are ample opportunities for keeping healthy and active,” said Surrey Councillor Linda Hepner, Chair of the Parks, Recreation and Sport Tourism Committee. “This new field house will also enhance the ability to host both local and large scale international tournaments in the City.”
The Project includes the construction of a 1,846 square foot two-storey building that will include showers, change rooms, washrooms, community room and a multi-purpose room.
Tamanawis Park is the only dedicated water based two pitch Field Hockey complex in North America. Upon completion of the field house, Tamanawis Park will be considered one of the premier facilities within North America for the sport of Field Hockey, ready to accommodate future provincial, national and high level international matches.
“Promoting and supporting healthy lifestyles is an important part of our government’s commitment to help families and communities remain active and strong,” said Premier Clark. “This new facility provides a safe venue where families can watch international tournaments while at the same time encouraging them get out there and play themselves.”
