Register your business with the province of BC. You need to register to get proof of your business number, to open bank accounts, apply for loans, and accomplish many other business start-up and business building activities.

Business registration process

There are 2 steps to registering your business:

1. Submit Your Business Name Approval Request

The first step in registering your business is getting the approval of your chosen business name. Name approval prevents duplication of named companies and provides a record of ownership of companies.

Once you've been notified that your business name has been approved, you have 56 calendar days to register your business name or complete your incorporation process.

Registering as a sole proprietorship or partnership
