Request for Quotations

SERVICES

The Contractor shall provide everything needed to meet all the requirements of the contract including, without limitation any and all labour, materials, tools and equipment and transportation necessary to remove invasive plants such as English Ivy, blackberry, Scotch broom, hogweed etc. from park natural areas such as forests and meadows.  The removal of plants will be done by hand using non-motorized or motorized hand tools.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

The Services include the manual removal of invasive plants such as pulling or digging out the entire plant.  This is sometimes done in combination with using motorized hand tools such as brush-saws; chainsaws etc. to cut down taller plants first and then pulling the entire plant out of the ground including its roots.

The specialized removal of giant hogweed using special personal protective equipment and procedures approved by WorkSafeBC is part of this contract.

On each visit the Contractor is responsible for the removal and disposal of plant litter debris to be disposed of off-site in an acceptable manner.  The City will provide dump sites for vegetation cuttings off-site.

Typical volume of work:

  1. The City anticipates that the volume of work within this contract will keep a crew of approximately 8 staff working full-time for approximately 11 months of the year;
  2. Depending on the available crew capacity of contractors, the contract may be divided between two or more contractors in order to complete work within the required timeframe.
