Artist Call for Expressions of Interest - Hazelgrove Park Sculpture

Artist Call for Expressions of Interest - Hazelgrove Park Sculpture

Request for Expressions of Interest

The City of Surrey invites Expressions of Interest from professional artists or artist teams for a sculpture for a new park north of Hazelgrove Elementary School in East Clayton, Surrey.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are sought for an artwork to be placed on a low grassed mound near the park entrance off of 190th Street at 71st Avenue.  The artwork will be highly visible and should convey elegance through simplicity; use of vertical components; create interest within the horticulture context; use materials which complement the park setting and water features; and be appropriate for installing in an active park.  The artwork should not utilize water and be low maintenance.  Also the design should anticipate attachment to a concrete slab foundation on the grass mound.

Artists answering this call are invited to envision a sculpture that responds to "Water" as the theme for the artwork.

The project budget is $100,000 inclusive of all costs including artist fees, design, materials, insurance, all engineering expenses, fabrication, delivery, installation, travel and taxes.

This call is open to qualified professionals and artist teams, defined as having specialized training in the field or a history of having exhibitions as an artist, and who are recognized as artists by peers and arts professionals.
