Google Translate
Translation – Explanation and Caution

The electronic translation service on the City of Surrey’s web site is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages. Unfortunately, not all the languages spoken in the City of Surrey are translated. Punjabi is one of the languages not currently offered, and to remedy the situation, the City has been in contact with Google and they have committed to making Punjabi available in the future.

The City of Surrey cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the City encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and the decisions you make.

The City of Surrey offers interpretation services at all its facilities. If you have a question about the material you read on our web site, we encourage you to stop by a City facilities to discuss it. You can also contact the City at (604) 591-4011 to receive interpretation support.

The City is committed to enhancing the accessibility of its web site to all its citizens, and appreciates any feedback that it receives.

Volunteer Application Process

Volunteer applicants must successfully complete all of the following steps of the application process before being considered for a volunteer role with the City of Surrey. You must be 14 years or older and a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant or permanent resident to apply.

Step #1
Browse through the menu of areas that are actively recruiting new volunteers. Please note some volunteer positions have seasonal application dates and only those that are available will be accessible to you to apply for.

After viewing our website, if you still have unanswered questions or want to know more, register for a free Volunteer Information Session. Find out how to apply, where you can volunteer, what opportunities are available and the benefits of volunteering within our department.

Step #2
To create your online volunteer profile please click on the area of opportunity that most interests you. It is important not to create more than one account. With your user name and password you can join additional areas of opportunity.

Step #3
When you have completed and saved your online profile, you will receive a confirmation email with the following forms attached (Volunteer Criminal Record Check and Two Written References). The email will highlight the next steps of the application process which includes the following:

Volunteer Criminal Record Check.
These City of Surrey forms must be taken in person to Surrey’s Main RCMP detachment (14355 57th Avenue) or the Guildford/Fleetwood office (10395 148 Street) for processing. There is no fee for submitting our forms. They can take up to 3 weeks to process so we suggest you submit them as quickly as possible.

• Two written references
other than friends or family.  Please note you will also need to list your references when you create your online volunteer profile.

One-to-One Interview.
As part of the application process, you’re also required to attend an interview. In some cases, accounts will require you to sign up for an interview time, by logging in to your volunteer account, click on the ‘Sign Up” tab, scroll down until you see “One-on-One Interview for New Volunteers”, and select a date and time that works for you. In other cases, accounts will call you for a one-to-one interview that meets both of your schedules.

Once all of your information is processed and your profile, interests, skills and experiences are evaluated, you will be contacted by a member of our team to discuss your eligibility to volunteer.
