Translation – Explanation and Caution

The electronic translation service on the City of Surrey’s web site is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages. Unfortunately, not all the languages spoken in the City of Surrey are translated. Punjabi is one of the languages not currently offered, and to remedy the situation, the City has been in contact with Google and they have committed to making Punjabi available in the future.

The City of Surrey cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the City encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and the decisions you make.

The City of Surrey offers interpretation services at all its facilities. If you have a question about the material you read on our web site, we encourage you to stop by a City facilities to discuss it. You can also contact the City at (604) 591-4011 to receive interpretation support.

The City is committed to enhancing the accessibility of its web site to all its citizens, and appreciates any feedback that it receives.

Applications are now being accepted for City Wide Special Events. Recruitment takes place from January-June 2012. 

Party for the Planet

Surrey's inaugural Party for the Planet event will focus on celebrating City fo Surrey sustainability initiatives and City of Surrey enviornmental partnerships.  The event will include Canada's first ever Bike Powered Main Stage ans Surrey's first even Green Zip Line and Aerial Element System, a carbon-neutral physical ans physiological adventure and a public engagement activity.

Surrey Children’s Festival 

The Surrey Children’s Festival takes place each year at the Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park. The festival inspires young hearts and minds to greater possibilities, while connecting them to their families and friends. The children’s festival celebrates rich and diverse cultural heritage through performing and visual arts.

Canada Day

The City of Surrey's Canada Day Celebration at the Cloverdale Amphitheatre is Western Canada’s Largest July 1st Celebration, full of activities and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy!

Fusion Festival 

Fusion Festival is Surrey’s largest two day multicultural celebration with more than 30 international pavilions celebrating music, food and culture. This event brings together many distinct cultural heritages represented by ethnic and community groups hosting pavilions to present the music, food, costume and dance of their country of origin.

Tree Lighting Festival

The Tree Lighting Festival is a free and fun event where Mayor and Council join Frosty and Santa as they turn the switch to light the City’s official Christmas tree and kick off the holiday season in Surrey! 

Community Events

Whalley Community Festival

Every June, the Whalley Community Association invites everyone – young, old and those in the middle – to Surrey for this annual event. The day kicks off with a North Surrey Lions Pancake Breakfast. Entertainment and activities run all day long. This is a free event for the whole family with thanks to support from local businesses and community groups.

Fleetwood Community Festival

This free annual event in September is a day of fun, excitement and celebration.

Newton Community Festival

Take a walk down memory lane at the classic themed Newton Community Festival and enjoy a free event with the whole family. Take in the sites as classic car owners show off their hot rods and custom creations, enjoy roving entertainment and live music, meet local businesses at the business expo, find something unique among the many food and craft vendors, or explore countless activities and games at the children and youth zones. It’s all here at the June 11 Newton Community Festival!

Youth Fest

Youth Fest is a one-day free celebration for youth in the city that happens every September. It has local youth bands, activities, skateboard demonstrations, a teen dance and a variety of other positive things for youth to do on a Saturday day/night. Along with the sumo wrestling, 3 lane bungee run, and other inflatable games, we also have vendors and resource tables full of information, free giveaways and treats for sale.
