Translation – Explanation and Caution

The electronic translation service on the City of Surrey’s web site is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages. Unfortunately, not all the languages spoken in the City of Surrey are translated. Punjabi is one of the languages not currently offered, and to remedy the situation, the City has been in contact with Google and they have committed to making Punjabi available in the future.

The City of Surrey cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the City encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and the decisions you make.

The City of Surrey offers interpretation services at all its facilities. If you have a question about the material you read on our web site, we encourage you to stop by a City facilities to discuss it. You can also contact the City at (604) 591-4011 to receive interpretation support.

The City is committed to enhancing the accessibility of its web site to all its citizens, and appreciates any feedback that it receives.

Administrators of Volunteer Resources BC (AVRBC)

AVRBC is an organization of professionals in BC. These professionals are dedicated to promoting leadership in the management of volunteer resources. AVRBC was incorporated as a society in 1975. Its main purposes are:

- To advocate for and promote the administration of volunteer resources as a recognized profession.
- To promote education in the administration of volunteer resources.
- To encourage and maintain communication among members.

Canadian Administrators of Volunteer Resources (CAVR)

CAVR is the only National Professional Association that offers ongoing certification in the field of volunteer resources management. They are devoted to provide national leadership for administrators of volunteer resources. 

Volunteer Canada

Volunteer Canada had been supporting volunteerism and civic participation through ongoing programs and special projects since 1977. 86 volunteer centers are established throughout the country in all provinces and the Yukon Territory through this organization. Volunteer Canada also works in close collaboration with the federation of over 110 volunteer centers in Quebec.

Volunteer BC is a provincial association consisting of volunteer centers, other volunteer organizations and individuals working together to strengthen the growth and development of voluntary action in British Columbia. Currently there are over 30 volunteer centers in BC.

Surrey Community Services was incorporated in 1971 and since then has served thousands of community members through they’re many services such as child and family services, counseling services, employment services, information and referral services, mental health support services, thrift stores, and volunteer services. 

Deltassist

Deltassist was created in 1999 by the joining of two long-standing community organizations. Deltassist is a non-profit organization dedicated to respond to the community needs of Delta in a manner which enhances the social, psychological and physical well being of individuals, families and the community through the provision of professional and volunteer services in Delta and the surrounding communities.
