Translation – Explanation and Caution

The electronic translation service on the City of Surrey’s web site is hosted by Google Translate. The quality of the translation may vary in some of the languages offered by Google. The goal of the basic translation is to capture the general intention of the original English material.

Google Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages. Unfortunately, not all the languages spoken in the City of Surrey are translated. Punjabi is one of the languages not currently offered, and to remedy the situation, the City has been in contact with Google and they have committed to making Punjabi available in the future.

The City of Surrey cannot guarantee the quality, accuracy, or completeness of any translated information. Before you act on translated information, the City encourages you to confirm any facts that are important to you and the decisions you make.

The City of Surrey offers interpretation services at all its facilities. If you have a question about the material you read on our web site, we encourage you to stop by a City facilities to discuss it. You can also contact the City at (604) 591-4011 to receive interpretation support.

The City is committed to enhancing the accessibility of its web site to all its citizens, and appreciates any feedback that it receives.

City-Wide Special Events

Volunteering in special events is a great way to get active, try something new, make new friends and get involved in the community. There are numerous events & festivals taking place across the City that are looking for your support, energy and imagination. Opportunities include Surrey Children's Festival, WinterFest, Canada Day, Fusion Festival and Community Recreation events.  Recruitment takes place January-June.

SPIRIT (Support Participation & Inclusion ~ Reach out, Involve & Transform)

This program fosters volunteerism in order to support community members with disabilities that require additional assistance or support to facilitate their full participation in recreation and leisure experiences. Recruitment takes place January-May.

Surrey Arts Centre

Share your passion for art! Contribute to a dynamic community of volunteers that are engaged in supporting: art exhibitions, visual and performing art classes, artist talks, gallery tours, an art library, and more. Volunteers have opportunities to interact with artists, educators and exhibition curators as they support programs that facilitate community engagement in contemporary art and ideas.

Heritage Services

We are looking for keen volunteers for the Historic Stewart Farm, Surrey Museum and Surrey Archives. Volunteers give tours, deliver school programs, help with special events and assist with exhibit preparation.

Engineering & Environment

Become a salmon steward! Join the City of Surrey's volunteers by becoming a Coho Crew member and participate in work parties at local creeks.  An exciting initiative to protect our local salmon and trout in Surrey's streams and creeks.  Make a positive impact by participating in fun outdoor environmental activities such as: storm drain marking, community outreach and education as well as volunteer opportunities set up for Coho Crew members.

Calling all outdoor enthusiasts! Surrey is home to more than 600 parks, and there are many exciting and fun ways to get involved. With a variety of activities relating to park care, leading programs like Tai Chi & children’s activities, or being involved in community groups, there are volunteer opportunities for everyone; from families to students, groups and individuals. Friends of the Forest: Environmental Stewardship

Want to learn how you can help enhance Surrey’s natural parks? There are many ways for youth, individuals, families, community groups, and schools to get involved. Adopt a local park or greenbelt, sign up to be alerted of park stewardship events, or join our youth Stewardship Squad. Help us plant native plants, remove invasive species and clean-up our natural areas. Sign up now to volunteer and get a chance to connect with the great outdoors and make a difference in Surrey’s environment!

Nature Centre and Environmental Education

Sign up now to volunteer and get a chance to connect with your community to teach people about and promote our natural environment! Become a Surrey Nature Centre volunteer and assist with many curriculum-linked school programs, special events, or day camps. Help out at special events like Arbor Day or World Ocean Day, or be a park ambassador with Eco Rangers.

Community and Recreation Services

The City of Surrey offers a wide variety of opportunities within our 8 multi-use recreation centres, 4 indoor pools, 8 outdoor pools, 5 ice arenas, 7 skate parks.

Recruitment takes place February -June for Children's Services and Youth Services.

Surrey Emergency Program

The Surrey Emergency Program branches into the following 4 functions: Emergency Social Services (ESS), Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program, Surrey Search & Rescue and Surrey Amateur Radio.
