Property Taxes

Surrey property taxes cover the current calendar year from January 1st to December 31st.  Over 300,000 tax notices are mailed to Surrey property owners each year. These notices may include the annual garbage and recycling service charge and drainage parcel tax.  Property owners should claim the Home Owner Grant (if eligible) online before the due date to avoid late penalty charges on the grant amount.  You may retrieve the property tax and utility levy amounts online using the Property Taxes and Utilities Online Inquiry.

Metered Water and Sewer Notices

Due to increased growth in the City and within the Water Meter Program, the City has been organized into 4 water meter areas. To enhance customer service and allow for a more effective area-based billing system, the due dates will now be based on which area you live in.

To find your Metered area, look at the top right corner of your bill or click here.

With the new schedule, water billing will be staggered throughout the year, with only one Area billed at a time. You will continue to be billed every 4 months, 3 times a year.

For more information on Metered Utility billing click here.

  • Late payments are subject to a 5% penalty.
  • Any utility balances remaining unpaid as of Dec. 31st will be transferred to the property tax account.
