Administration

The City Manager heads the administrative component of Surrey. The City Manager is appointed by Council as the Chief Administrative Officer.

The City Manager oversees the financial operation of the City and makes sure that Council policies, direction and resolutions are implemented and the City's bylaws are enforced.

Departments

The City is made up of departments, each headed by a General Manager. These general managers make up the Senior Management Team (SMT), which meets regularly to discuss corporate-wide issues and generate solutions to corporate administrative or operational problems and recommend options to Council on policy development.

Members of the SMT are responsible to the City Manager for the effective and efficient operation of their respective departments.
